At a Girls Rock Camp, music is the medium in which to empower girls to build confidence, self-reliance, and practice tolerance and respect. Girls Rock! Canberra (GR!C) aims to provide a safe environment for girls to express their creativity, take pride in their accomplishments and learn not to apologise for making some noise.

GR!C empowers girls from 10-17 years old through a week-long mentorship program that encourages creativity, self-expression and teamwork through music. In the space of 5 days, participants will form their own band, learn an instrument, watch live music performances, participate in creative workshops- like making zines and screen printing band t-shirts- and write an original song to be performed at the end of the week.

The inaugural session of GR!C was run January 11-16, 2016 at Ainslie Arts Centre, Braddon ACT. GR!C 2016 could not have happened without the generous support of Ainslie + Gorman Arts Centres

Girls Rock! Canberra will run again in 2017 - dates are still being finalised.
